The Day after tomorrow...Where will you be?
Roland Emmerich, the director of Independence Day, presents another worldwide disaster movie with stunning visual effects. The Day After Tomorrow premiered in Mexico City on May 17, 2004.The film won «BAFTA» in 2005 for special effects.
Starring :
Dennis Quaid as Professor Jack Hall, government climatologist and father of Sam Hall
Jake Gyllenhaal as Sam Hall, teenage son of Jack Hall
Emmy Rossum as Laura Chapman, love interest and classmate of Sam Hall...
What if we are on the brink of new Ice Age?This is the question that haunts climatologist Jack Hall.Hall's research indicates that global warming could trigger an abrupt and catastrophic shift in the planet's climate. While Jack warms the White House of the impending climate shift, his 17 year-old son Sam finds himself trapped in New York City where he and some friends have been competing in a high school academic sompetition. He must now cope with the severe flooding and plummeting temperatures. But not ecen Jack is prepared for what is about to happen to him,to his son,and to his planet.
I think this film is very GOOD.The special effects are impressive The scenery is often breathtaking and the dialogue is often excellent. There are some sad moments, especially when Frank(friend of Sam's father) falls through the glass roof of a snowbound shopping mall. As Jason and Jack try to pull Frank up, the glass under them continues to crack, so Frank sacrifices himself by cutting the rope. And more there was a scene when Laura is found to be afflicted with severe blood poisoning, so Sam, Brian, and J.D. search for penicillin in a nearby Russian cargo ship that drifted inland, while a homeless man named Caddy who listened to Sam's warnings watches over her. While within the ship, the three are attacked by a pack of hungry wolves that presumably escaped from the Central Park Zoo. This moment was very dangerous and exciting.
Global warming. Many climate scientists are seriously alarmed about this effect, and the resultant climate disasters it might bring.I think this film really shows to us what would happen in our world in the future. If somebody still haven't seen this film so... you lost a lot!
